Ford Repair: central fuel injection swap to regular fuel injection, crown vic, fuel injection

Question
Hey Steve, I have an Anniversary 85 Thunderbird with a 302. It has central fuel injection which is Ok but not great. I want to swap it over to an 86 and up regular fuel injection set up. Can you tell me what has to be changed? I do not have any parts as of yet. Would it be easier to pick up an 86 or later T-bird, Mustang or Crown Vic and use the parts from there? If you cannot answer this can you point me in the right direction for say a "how to" article from a Mustang magazine? My son wants this to be his first car but I never felt that the central injection system was all that great, hard starts in the winter, so so performance and the mileage was nothing to cheer about either. Thanks for any help you can provide me with. Chris

Answer
Chris-

Just think of the swap like you would when swapping a carb for fuel injection.  You won't be able to use any of the CFI parts on an EFI car anyway.  You probably are better off just getting a donor T-Bird that has EFI on it and just taking everything you need from that.  Hope this helps.
