Ford Repair: 94 Explorer Clutch problems, clutch system, clutch plate

Question
QUESTION: Hi Jim, Im having some problems with my clutch system meaning the engagement of the clutch, for a while it was running spongy and the gears would grind, and then on other days it would run perfect smooth as butter shifting, now it wont allow any shifting at all, I have replaced the master cylinder "with a new one "and have been bleeding the system for at least an hour lots of fluid but nothing, pedal just drops to the floor with ease, ... now my truck has an internal slave, i believe the tranny is the Mazda 5 speed, the clutch plate its self was replaced at least just over a year ago ... this was before I bought the truck, I however don't know if the throwout or slave was ever replaced?  there is a port where you can see into the tranny and you can see the back of the plate and part of the slave. the slave looks to be new and clean still so I suspect that there is no need for repair there but I did look up a web site and it had mentioned that the biggest possibility was the throwout Bering. it had mentioned that if engagement to first and reverse were difficult that the throwout was #1 cause heres the addy to see for your self http://www.explorer4x4.com/tips.htm
this was one of the biggest problems one a bad day for the truck, everytime i went to put the truck into reverse or first it would clunk or grind, i had to pump the pedal a few times and this would make improvement and allow me to shift into first, but the clutch even on good days you could feel that it was still engaged a bit with the pedal fully down, so I had always thought it to be the master, you had you push the pedal down at least an inch before you would feel it tighten up to release the clutch. now with the new master, when the pedal is pushed you can hear the clutch squeak, this is new! ...my only answer is that its the throwout, its hard to tell because I'm going to have remove the tranny before i can see whats going on.... if you recommend the tranny be removed, i would like to ask a few pointers like any special tools to remove clutch throwout or anything above i know i need a coupling to to remove the clutch hose... any info would be greatly appreciated

ANSWER: the only tool u would need is to algin the presure plate , the hosse u just have to push that white plastic pieace in and pull on the hose , also when u buy the part use only a new one from the dealer dont use aftermarket as its know to have problems with them , other wise not a bad job , if u need any more info do a follow up

QUESTION: Thanks for your time Jim, I would like to ask what type of tool you would need to align the pressure plate, I've done my fair share in auto trannys but not on a standard, this will be the first one, I'm pretty confident that I can do this ... even though I don't have allot of the right tools but I'm pretty mechanically inclined, I have the truck ready to drop the tranny but what do you think needs replacing the slave and clutch plate as well ...I know its got a cheap after marker pressure plate now cause the pedal used to be stiff real stiff, and a mechanic that i took it to said the same that its more than likely cheap parts, but once i got to town theres no turning back, i live a ways out of town so i would like to know roughly on what parts him going to need, thanks for the help and maybe a few tip on how to align the plate would be nice
thanks Aaron

Answer
well its my pleasure frist , second if u buy a good clutch kit which i recommend the algin tool will come with it , and if u feel the parts are cheap then i would replace the presure plate , the disc, the throw out bearing and macine the  flywheel , i wouldnt want to do that job twice to save 50 bucksfrom teh start
