Ford Repair: 390 engine swap...another one:), bellhousing, motor mounts

Question
Hi Steve, I think this is a tough one but I thought i'd ask.  I have a 68 mustang with a 289 in it that is done.
A friend is offering up his 390 from his 64 t-bird complete with tranny.  I was told that I might have an issue as the motor mounts might not be the same on the 64 block (possibly 2 bolt compared to 4).  Do you have any experience with these motors/years?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.
Stan

Answer
Stan-

Well the 390 won't bolt up using the 289 mounts...that's for sure.  If memory serves, Mustangs of that era did come with 390s from the factory.  I'd just find someone parting one out from (relatively) the same year and buy their motor mounts and engine brace.  You might need a new transmission bellhousing and tailshaft to fit the Mustang (I'd not sure about T-Bird/Mustang compatibility), but aside from all of that the swap shouldn't be too difficult.  Hope this helps.
