Ford Repair: engine swap, valve models, spanish oak

Question
Hey Steve i have a 1998 ford f150 4.6l can i put a 2007 4.6l engine in it?

Answer
Dion-

Well, the '07 definitely wouldn't be a direct swap, if that's what you mean.  The '05-later 4.6L motors are 3 valve motors as opposed to earlier 2 valve motors (excluding some 4 valve models).  As far as dimensions, I imagine they're probably the same (though I'm not absolutely sure of that).  The engine computer for the newer motors is also far more complex thatn earlier models.  The 3 valve motors used the older EEC-V and the newer 3 valves use a proccessor Ford calls "Spanish Oak" (don't ask me why).  So is it possible?  Probably...if you're willing to work out some headaches.  Hope this helps.
