Ford Repair: 4.6 DOHC rocker arm/lifter replacement, lincoln mark viii, roller rockers

Question
I have some last adjusters/lifters that need replaced in my '93 Lincoln Mark VIII, 4.6 DOHC. I know how to do the job, but it is a bit of work and job that I only want to do once.

(32) thirty two lash adjusters will cost me $256.00. I suppose I could buy a lash adjuster testing tool, but there is not much cost advantage and an adjuster that tested good today could go bad tomorrow. So I figure it is cheaper and safer to replace them all.

The sting is that the factory service manual says new rocker arms need to be used with the new lash adjusters. Thirty two rocker arms will cost about $550.00. That's a lot of jack!

There is nothing wrong with the roller rockers in this engine---that I know of.

So my question is: What kinds of problems will I run into if I disregard the factory service manual and keep the old rocker arms to use with the new lash adjusters?

$900.00 for rockers and adjusters--and me doing the work---in making me get all teary eyed.

Thanks in advance.

Answer
well i will give you my opinion , fist of all i don't have much expierence with 93 mark8  ,have worked on mid 90s and newer, but just thinking about it if the rockers are good i don't  see why you should have to change them unless they tell you that because they have be revised /redesigned.... which i don't know because i don't have a book that goes that far , sorry i could not have been better help
