Ford Repair: 1999 Ford Taurus SE low-speed hum, bad wheel bearing, ford taurus

Question
My Taurus makes a deep resonant humming sound at low speeds. I hear it most often when just starting out or after breaking. I don't think it is a brake issue because I don't hear it when breaking at higher speeds. As soon as I increase the speed, the noise seems to go away. Any ideas?

Answer
Without hearing it, I can only guess-- but what you described sounds a lot like a bad wheel bearing or chopped tire.  A reputable shop should be able to check the tires and decide if it is a bearing noise.  Does it get any worse when turning right or left?
