Ford Repair: Dinging Sound When I Step On the Brake, turn signal flasher, ford probe gl

Question
I have a '91 Ford Probe GL.  When I step on the brake, I'll hear a dinging sound like when you leave the car door open.  If I have to step hard on the brake, all I'll hear is ding, ding, ding, ding.  No lights come on or anything. I always wear my seatbelt and the doors and trunk are shut tight. I recently replaced the left turn signal flasher but it was doing this before I replaced it. It's so annoying and I have no idea why it makes this noise.

Answer
There is definitely an electrical problem, something is probably shorting out under the dash when you press the brake.  There are hundreds of circuits that could malfunction, you'll have to take the car to a reputable shop to get it properly diagnosed.  Have someone make sure the brake lights work when you press the brake and replace any burned out bulbs, sometimes just a bulb can cause some strange problems (and if the brake lights don't work, its a dangerous car!!) Hope this helps,
