Ford Repair: 1996 F150 Keyless Entry, keyless remotes, blown fuse

Question
After changing the driver's door speaker, I noticed that both of my keyless remotes had stopped working.  I'm not sure if the events are connected, but that's when I noticed.  The power lock controls on both doors still function properly so I would assume the actuators are OK.  Could the receiver have gone bad and if so, where is it located?  Could the programming between the receiver & the remotes gotten lost when some fusing was removed?  If it needs to be re-programmed, is this something I can do?  I appreciate any help you could give me on this.  Thanks!

Answer
The only thing I can think of that would connect the speaker repair to the keyless entry problem is a blown fuse.  The receiver is actually called the "GEM" which means Generic Electronic Module.  This is the computer that runs your windows, locks, security, wipers, and other accessories.  If these other accessories still work, the module is probably OK and the fuse is OK.  I don't have the reprogramming procedure memorized but it is in the manual, or most ford dealers will print out the instructions for free. You could have bad remote batteries too, I always replace the batteries when I reprogram the remotes as preventative maintenance.  Hope this helps,
