Ford Repair: 1993 f150 5.0 to 5.8 conversion, efi motor, engine harness

Question
Hi guys, I have just purchased and imported a 1993 F150 (11/1992) 4wd supercab XLT which was originally fitted with a 5.0 EFI, and the electronic overdrive trans. The motor was damaged. The guy also sold me a running complete 4/1995 5.8 efi motor, which included the engine bay harness and firewall plug. I don't have the 5.0 engine, but I do have most of it's accesories, and  the engine bay harness is still intact in the vehicle, as it was unplugged. I have also purchased an ECM from a 1993 5.8. with the same transmission as mine. What else will I need to make it operate, and which engine harness will I use? Can you think of anything else I need, or to do?
Thanks Anthony

Answer
Hello Anthony,
You will definitely need a PCM compatible with the 5.8L, hopefully of the same year, etc. You are actually better off and will have less headaches by obtaining a replacement 5.0L and just putting it in. The firing order of the injectors and ignition system are different between the two, but the two harnesses may be really similar, if not the same.
The 5.8 engine is actually taller, so the lower intake manifold is wider. The crankshaft main caps are larger on the 351, so the oil pan is different also.
You need to get full wiring diagrams for both years and compare them to make sure they are the same or close to it. Maybe you can get away without swapping harnesses, just computers, but you MUST make sure that can safely be done. I am sure the swap can be done, but I have never actually done that one myself.
Good luck, and feel free to follow up.  Shaun.
