Ford Repair: Fuel filter location, dual tanks, 1989 ford f150

Everything that I have read about my 1989 Ford F150 indicates that the fuel filter is located on the driver's side frame rail.  I have followed the fuel lines from tank to engine and simply cannot locate a fuel filter of any kind.  It is a 5 L with dual tanks.

check around the drivers door underneath, you will see a square metal box shield with two lines in and two out, the filter should be there, but if you have no experiance in changing fuel injection filters, the best way is to take it to a shop of your choice and observe the 1st time
