Ford Repair: starter problem, ford escort lx, starter solenoid

Question
i have a 1993 ford escort lx,vin-f.HAD A BAD ING SWITCH REPLACED,EVERY THING WORKS EXCEPT STARTER WILL NOT WORK.RELAY KEEPS CLICKING,IS STARTER BAD?BATTERY WAS CHECKED AND HAS FULL CHARGE.(1.9ENG)

Answer
Hello Albert,
Most likely the starter is bad. A good way to check it without a test light is to have someone hold the key in the start position and tap on it with a hammer or similar object. Don't hit it too hard. Sometimes, if the starter solenoid is stuck, it will free it up. If it starts, then the starter needs to be replaced. If it doesn't, power feed needs to be verified at the starter itself. I hope this helps, and feel free to follow up.   Shaun.
