Ford Repair: ford f-150, fuel pressure regulator, ford f 150

Question
I have an F-150 (with the 6cyl. 4.9L) and recently the truck started to run a little rough... At idle it would vary between 400-800rpm and sometimes would stall out. When i would try to accelerate it usually would bog out at about 1500rpm unless i slowly eased my way up. When it ran the exhaust smelt like unburnt gas. I replaced all the plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and the E.G.R. valve and still no change. Then i tried replacing the Fuel Pressure regulator and now it doesnt start at all. It still smells like fuel under the hood when i try to start it and the pump does make noise when i turn the key but it wont turn over. Any ideas as to what the problem may be?

Answer
Hey Jason,
First check for spark out of the ignition coil if you are smelling fuel with a no-start condition. It is quite possible you lost an ignition coil, control module, or pickup coil in the distibutor. The coil wire could also be open. It sounds like you have fuel, so check ignition first. Good luck and I hope this helps you!   Shaun.
