Ford Repair: 78 ranchero engine swap, mustang gt, firing order

i have a 78 ranchero with a 302 auto, engine is bad, i also have a 89 5.0 from a mustang gt,is it possible to put the gt engine in and dump the electronics?

  Aside from a few minor internal differences the two engines are almost identical.  The only thing you'll need to make sure of is that you use the 5.0L firing order when you hook everything back up instead of the 302 firing order.  Aside from that all you'll really need to do is swap the parts you want from the Ranchero onto the 5.0L motor and drop it in.  Hope this helps.
