Ford Repair: gear ratio, dana 44 rear axle, stock dana

Question
I have an 84 bronco 2 all stock with a 2.9 v6 I put 235/75/15 tires on it and it seems like it lost a lot of power. I have a stock dana 44 rear axle with a 3.73 gear ratio. I want to know what I should change to to get my power back?

Well, it depends on the size of your wheel/tire combo before the switch.  I can't imagine they were much smaller since 15" wheels are pretty small as an upgrade goes.  I think your main problem is that the tires you've got are really tall.  A 75 series tire can certainly make acceleration seem a little flat, but usually not dramatically.  If gears are the way you want to go, I wouldn't go too crazy.  Maybe a set in the area of 4.10s or 4.30s (although either will make your cruising rpm a little higher).  Hope this helps.
