Ford Repair: 98 explorer transmission, torque converter, luck chris

Question
I noticed my 98 explorer had burnt trans fluid, so i got it flushed and serviced. Soon after it became burnt again, but the transmission works fine. I was wanting to now if the tranny is goning to die soon of what the story is. What does it cost for a new tranny or to rebuilt the old one.

Answer
Hi Orin thanks for asking.
Was the transmssion flushed or was the pan just droped and releaded? If the oil is droped through the pan and the filter is changed then only half the fluid is getting changed. The whole transmsion takes about 15 liters of fluid. alot of the old fuid will stay in the torque converter, if you only drop the pan. this is why the fluid looks burnt again, the new stuff just mixed with the old stuff. I would take it somehwere that has a machine that will actually flush the tansmsison. these flushed run around 200 dollars but it is woth it.
good luck
