Ford Repair: ford galaxy 2000 tdi zetec, galaxy 2000, ford galaxy

There is a foul smell which comes and goes for the last few weeks. Smells like sewage. checked the pollen and air filter. Have found under the mat in the passenger footwell very wet and smelly. I must have a leak, any idea from what.

  Well...first off let me just say I don't know much about Fords made outside the US.  Judging by the fact you have a 2000 Galaxy, I'll assume you're in Australia or possible Europe (Galaxies haven't bee available stateside for the past few decades).  But I can't imagine the cars there are too terribly different from the cars here, so here's what I think.  My guess is that you've got a leaky heater core.  I can't imagine how else you'd get a noticeable amount of water onto the passenger side floorboard...unless you have some bad weather stripping or something of that nature.  You might try giving the interior a good cleaning wherever the moisture is bulding up.  Make sure it dries out well.  Then, just wait.  See when the dampness appears again.  If it's right away, it's likely the heater core.  If it takes something like a storm for it to become wet again, it's probably a bad seal.  Hope this helps.
