Ford Repair: electrical problem with brakes/signal, broken wires, luck chris

Question
hello, my husband has my '02 Ford F150 and just called my saying that he has no signal lights or brake lights. He pulled over and changed the fuse, it was blown out, but it just blew out that one too. Any suggestions?

Answer
HI Tammy thanks for asking, and sorry about the delay i got tied up all weekend.
When a fuse is "poped" that means there is an over load on the circuit. In this case the wiring harness that runs along the underside of the truck has a slit in it or there is a break in a wire in one of the tail lights. One of the wires must be broken and touching the body of the truck, or there may be two broken wires touching each other. This is called a "short" or "short to ground". The whole harness is going to have to be looked at and repaired where necesary.
Good luck
