Ford Repair: 1990 929S Mazda, mazda auto, viscocity

Question
auto trans has intermittent chatter shifting into second gear usually only after driving several miles without stopping at first stop only.  Another stop after a short distance results in normal shifting.  TransX has minimized the problem, but it still happens occasionally.  Sticky valve body which somehow only sticks when warm and only after driving a while without stopping?  Less likely to do it when cold.  Any solvent you can suggest that doesn't contain leak stop to avoid softening the seals further after the transX a possible solution?  Thanks

Answer
Hi Clem thanks for asking.
Everybody has there own opinion about additives. I personaly dont believe in using any type of additiven in a transmission. the valve body is specificaly desined to function with a certain type of fluid with a certain viscocity rating (thickness) Any other fluid that is thicker and gets put into the transmission will slow down the flow of the fluid, thus causing the clutch packs to engage slower then they should be, If the clutch packs slip even more then they are NOT going to last any longer,, Yes sure the additives may make it feel better, But I hohonestly beleive that you are doing unnecesary damage. try changing the trans filter and have a cleaner run through the transmission, some shops will have a transmission fluid flusher/exchanger, i recomend that you try that first,. this machine will change all the fluid in the trans including the oil in the torque converter. Try this and let me know what happens. If this doesnt solve your problem then have a transmission specialist look at it.
good luck
