Ford Repair: engine chuging, ford areostar, weird noises

i have a 1993 ford areostar van loses speed climbing hills and trouble accelerating engine seems to sputter

This is a problem that will be hard to diagnose here, I will need a liitle more info. Was anything acting funny before it started to do this? Are there any weird noises coming from the engine compartment--- be specific. Which engine is in your vehicle.. 3.0 or 4.0? get back to me and ill try to help you .
