Ford Repair: Battery draining, salvage yards, fuse box

Question
About a month ago my turn signals stopped working.  I asked at a local store and they had me change the fuses.  I have a 98 Ford explorer.  Being a girl, and stupid, I replaced all the fuses.  Then the car was entirely screwed, so I put all the old fuses back.  The car went back to normal briefly, but soon after the "door open" signal wouldn't turn off, and the inside lights if left on automatic turn off, never turned off.  Now the battery is draining at a rapid pace.  I replaced it and the new battery is draining as well and going dead.  I had the alternator checked and nothing is wrong.  Did I cause this with the fuse box?  If not what could be making the door indicator stay on and the battery to go dead in a matter of days?

Answer
Angie,

Your Explorer sounds like it has a bad light control module.  This module controls all the functions you describe and is notorious for failing. Unfortunately, they can be expensive to replace. Price it new then try a few salvage yards.

Good Luck!!!
