Ford Repair: 1977 ford 150, mallory ignition, summit racing

Question
I just bought this truck it started when i bought it had a 351 but changed the motor to a 1970 302 with a mallory breakerless distributor.I can't get any spark. I have power to the coil but then when i plug the female end of the distributor to the male end running to the coil there's no power anymore to the distributor or the coil.. please help!!! thanks

Answer
Shane,

It sounds like the Mallory ignition module went bad. It is mounted inside the distributor. Summit racing is probably the cheapest place to get one.

The other item to check would be your resistor wire between the + coil to the ignition switch.  I am pretty sure that Mallory recommends bypassing this resistor wire when using their distributor. You may want to check their website for more information. There should be power there with the key on regardless of the ignition module being bad.
