How do I adjust the idle on my 99 Ford Contour?

The idle is not adjustable on your contour. It is controlled by the engine computer using a idle air control valve known as the IAC.  If you are having problems with a low idle then remove and clean the IAC and throttle body. I like to use Gunk Foamy Engine Bright or Ford's throttle body cleaner. If your idle is too high check for a vacuum leak. It should maintain around 800rpm.
