Ford Repair: timeing, rice rockets, test light

Question
i have a 2.3l turbo motor and i cant get spark on the plugs ive replaced the module on the distributer and the coil and the dis cap and rotary button. what else could it be.

Answer
Matt,

This is one of my favorite engines. I had put one out of a turbo coupe into a lil Ford Ranger. I loved it. It would get 20mpg and blow the street rice rockets away. She was a sleeper.

Anyway, out of my daydreams and back to work. Use a test light and check for key on power at the positive side of the ignition coil. Now on the negative side you should also show power. Now have someone crank the engine over and the test light should flash on & off at the negative side of the coil. If it doesn't remove the distributor cap and make sure the rotor is turning while the engine is cranked over. If that is all good then you probably have a bad pick-up coil inside the distributor. I suggest replacing the whole distributor.

Good Luck!!! Let me know if you need further help.
