Ford Repair: Ford Explorer 1997, nancy nancy, door switch

Question
Interior lights will not go off.  I checked all doors, and then "slammed" them all shut again.  Start the car and the interior lights go off for 2 seconds and then they all come back on again.  I turned off the car and came inside, and now at 45 minutes later, they are still on.  It is  cold outside (34 degrees), and I assume the battery will die in the next few hours...any help would sure be appreciated. Thanks, Nancy

Answer
Nancy,

Just making sure you also checked the rear deck and rear glass?  I would guess you have a bad door switch causing the light to stay on. If the light module is working then it should shut it off after 20 minutes or so to avoid draining the battery. The question then is which door is it?

The door switch is inside the latch on the rear of the door. Sometimes you can see it with the door open looking into the latch. Check that it is not stuck in one position.
