Ford Repair: Adding cruise control to 99 E450, spiral cable, e450

I have a 1999 E450 box truck with a 7.3l diesel. I tried adding an OEM steering wheel with cruise control buttons but my local Ford Dealer says it can't be programmed for it. I've found several 99s with cruise for sale so I know there is a way to make it work. If anyone knows how to do it or what I need please shoot me a note. You'd be a life (and leg) saver.

The powerstroke is a throttle by wire engine and the cruise should already be programmed into the ECM. Have you checked with the parts dept at Ford? They usually have a cruise kit available that can interface with the ECM.

Also, in addition to the steering wheel you would need to change the spiral cable.
