Ford Repair: 4.9 Has no fire, coil wire, test light

Question
I have a F-150 4.9 six. I am getting no spark at the plugs. I have swapped the dist cap, coil wire, rotor, and ignition control module from my van of the same year and still have no spark at the plugs. The fuses are good. I have checked the coil with a volt meter, ignition on, I have twelve volts at the coil post. The truck turns over fine, just no spark. A big thanks if you can help, this is frustrating.     Jason

Answer
Jason,

Grab an old fashion test light and connect it to the negative side of the coil and ground. With the key on it should light. Now crank the engine over and it should flash on and off. If not, make sure the distributor rotates as you crank it. If that is good I would suspect a bad pick-up coil inside the distributor since you already replaced the module. You must remove the distributor and press the gear off the bottom to replace it. You might want to consider a new or re-man distributor instead.
