Ford Repair: 98 windstar, ford dealer, original radio

the front and rear running lights will not turn off even when the van is turned off and the switch is in the off position. we had it looked at by a ford dealer who said it was the head light switch. we replaced that however that did not solve the problem. we also checked all of the bulbs and sockets for those lights and they all appear to be fine. what else could the problem be? if it is a wiring problem where do we start looking?

I will try to get you a wiring diagram for the headlights if I can. First though, does it have an alarm system? Many aftermarket alarms flash the parking lights when you arm or disarm them. The alarm module may have failed.

Second, Has the original radio been changed? Many aftermarket radios have a power output to turn on remote amps, but sometimes this wire accidently gets hooked up to the illumination circuit and will backfeed the lights.
