Ford Repair: Fan for heater, mercury mystique, mercury dealer

Question
My daughter’s car is a 1998 Mercury Mystique. The heater appears to get hot but nothing blows out. We don't have a book. Which is the fuse for the fan or could it be something else?

Answer
Check the connector at the blower resistor, could be burnt or melted. The control switch can also be a problem.

Ford had two campaigns addressing this issue, 01S22 and 01M07. You should check with your local Ford or Mercury dealer to see if these apply to your vehicle. I could not determine the time or mileage limits, but the dealer can advise you on that too.

The blower fuse is F23
