Ford Repair: 97 windstar, windstars, headgaskets

Question
We have a 97 windstar and it is running rough. We have changed the plugs and wires. It was better for a few days then started acting up again. Could it be the fuel filter?

Answer
You haven't given me enough details. Like engine, when it runs rough(idle, cruising, accelerating)Some Windstars had problems with the intake gaskets and bolts leaking, as well as the PCV rubber parts swelling and causing a vaccum leak. There were also problems with the intake manifold runner system sticking ON, which also cause lean conditions. Is the check engine light on? Might be a good start to have the codes checked. Windstars with 3.8 Engines also had many problems with headgaskets failing, which will usually cause the engine to run poorly.
