Ford Repair: Transmission fluid, dipstick tube, dip stick

Question
I'm not sure where to add transmission fluid in my 1999 Ford Explorer.  It is bone dry.  Does it go in through the dip stick tube or is there a cap somewhere?

Answer
James-

One thing I'll say right off the bat that a lot of people don't know is that to properly check for trasmission fluid level, the engine has to be running.  I like to let it run for about a minute or so before checking.  Otherwise the level won't be accurate on the dipstick.  If you knew this and did this, ignore what I just wrote.  Aside from that, yes, you fill the transmission through the dipstick tube.  Do yourself a favor and get one of those funnels with the really long neck, though.  You really don't stand a chance otherwise.  Hope this helps.
