Ford Repair: fuel pump still acting up, gas tank, fuel pump

Question
Dennis, I replaced my entire fuel pump in my 93 ford tarus. It is still not working right. I can drive a few miles or more and when I come to a traffic light or stop light and then proceed, the engine sputters and cuts off. I turn the key over and I cannot hear the fuel pump coming on. After about 5 minutes, I wait, turn the key on and it will start up. Is there another relay somewhere between the gas tank and the front? This is really a problem for my daughter who just turned 16 and when it quits on here, it could be dangerous. Thanks for any info. I also changed a new fuel filter when I changed everything out.

Answer
Are you sure it is a fuel problem? If you can verify there is no fuel pressure when it dies, then you're on to something. You may not hear this fuel pump, when you turn the key on it only runs for about 3 seconds.

This could be an ignition problem, some of these had ignition modules that will fail when hot. Have you checked for codes? That is the best place to start.
