How do I replace a fuel pump for a ford taurus 1993? I thought I had vapor lock (the car stops after driving in hot weather), but a mechanic cautioned me that the symptoms point to a failing fuel pump

Vapor lock is not a common problem on newer vehicles with electric fuel pumps. Unless you have a safe place to drain the fuel and perform this work, a shop is better equipped to deal with gasoline which can be very dangerous.

The operation is simple in a Taurus, just remove the tank and replace the pump.
