Ford Repair: Service Engine Soon, dpfe sensor, egr sensor

Question
I Parked my 2002 Mustang for the winter, now my Service engine lite is on , I took it to part store where they plugged in to computer and the code read P0401 EGR Flow Insufficient so he told me to take EGR valve out clean it with some carb cleaner Which I did and the light still come on? Do you think the sensor is bad ( I have disconnected battery to clear computer)also being I have only 33000 miles on it do you think the Emissions warranty is still good?

Answer
Thank you for providing the code. Check with a local Ford dealer, you may qualify for FSA 02M01, which covers the DPFE sensor. It extends the base emissions warranty 2 years or 24,000 miles as fas as I know. This IS the EGR sensor, so don't listen to the parts store next time, check here or flatratetech.com before replacing anything.

(FSA=field service action, sometimes mistakenly tagged a "recall")

The dealer can run your VIN thru Fords system to see if it is covered for the DPFE sensor. If it is not you can replace it yourself, very simple.
