Ford Repair: When to Change Timing Belt/Chain, mustang 6 cylinder, ford mustang

Question
Hi,

My service guide doesn't say anything about when to change my timing chain.  What do you think?

2001 Ford Mustang
6 Cylinder
75,000 miles

thank you for sharing your expertise.

Answer
Steven-

In my opinion, there really shouldn't be a set time frame for replacement.  Some go bad within 50,000 miles...some never really need to be replaced.  I'd say to be on the safe side, I'd replace it at around 125K-150K miles (unless it's giving you problems before then, of course).  But in a relatively los stress/low horsepower application you shouldn't have to worry too much.  Hope this helps.
