Ford Repair: wheel hubs, brakes, front wheel bearings, wheel hubs

Question
Thanks for responding. Do you have any tips for removing the nuts(5 or 6 of them)that hold the hub on? Do they have to be replaced with new ones.

Question -
I have a 1996 Thunderbird. I hear a grinding noise from the right front wheel. I have replaced the brake pads, calipers, hoses and turned the rotors on both front wheels and replaced the pads on the rear. I took the dust cover off and looked for any signs of wheel bearing failure but I couldn't see any.
Any sugestions what this noise is?

Answer -
Without hearing this I cannot tell you for sure. Front wheel bearings on this vehicle are sealed, service them by replacing the hub and bearing assembly.

Answer
The only nut Ford recommends replacing is the large spindle nut. Try turning the offending wheel by hand, see if you can hear any noise or feel the bearing scraping before taking it apart. This may or not be your problem.

Did you have this noise before replacing the brakes? If not, something may be out of place, like a brake rattle clip or pad.
