Ford Repair: 1998 Ford Crown Victoria, ford crown vic, ford crown victoria

Question
My department has me driving a 1998 Ford Crown Vic with standard Police Package.  The car has 130,000 miles on it and just had a new fuel pump and fuel regulator valve installed.  I still have trouble when sometimes after sitting all night it won't start.  It will turn over but not fire.  I can wait a few hours or turn the key off and on about 6 times and it will start sometimes.  Please help I hate driving other cars because mine won't start.

Answer
I understand your predicament. When at my last job at a California dealer we saw a lot of these interceptors. I only had one in 18 years that stumped me and the Ford engineers, that one left and never came back!

Is this the same problem that caused a new pump? There may be a leak in the system somewhere. Has the CEL come on? Do you smell gasoline in the morning when it won't start?

Without knowing if there are any codes and if it holds fuel pressure, not much I can tell you. I know there were problems with the fuel pump relays, but at this point I can't tell you that would fix it.
