I have a 1988 Ford F250 regular cab Im having a real problem locating the horn relay. One day my horn just stopped working I thought it was the two factory horns going bad so I bought a new horn it worked on and off I checked the horn pad took it apart and cleaned it and re- installed with no luck I have driven down the road and low and behold the horn worked for a while then went dead I do not have cruz control so the relay if thats the problem isent in the colum  Dennis I sure could use your help getting my horn working there is no way im putting a tacky horn button on my steering colum please help before I forget when I push the horn pad I do not hear anything I asume that the horn relay should make some sound but there is nothing.

Answer
I don't recall 88 F150 having a horn relay. Should just be the connection under the steering wheel called the contact plate or clock spring. Is this what you cleaned? They do tend to get corroded or break as they age. The fact that it worked intermittently leads me to believe it is in this area, or possibly the switch on the steering wheel. Could even be a broken wire. Try holding down the horn button and turn the steering wheel, see if you get any response from the horn at all.
