Ford Repair: brake light repair, lamp sockets, pin type

Question
How do you get the darn rear brake light on a 1994 Explorer apart to replace the bulb?

Answer
Which one, the high one on the tailgate, or the right or left side? The lower ones should have two screws accessable with the tailgate open, then pull out on the bottom which has pin type retainers. The lamp sockets twist out.

The high mount light, remove two screws and pull the assembly away from the door, then twist the sockets and remove them. Sometimes the bulbs expand due to heat, making the sockets harder to remove, but they will come out, maybe without the bulb attached.
