i looked up rear drum breaks for a for focus and it came up with a 2003 and it stated not to remove the hub nut It took me house and i looked more indept and found a 2000 focus and it said to remove it i then went to auto zone and bought a book and found out that i had to remove the hub nut on the rear drums I own an 2003 focus and a little confused as to why i had to take my hub nut off and the one i found said do not remove the nut?

Answer
You didn't say what year is your focus. The correct procedure is to remove the entire spindle with the drum attached, by removing the four nuts/bolts on the back of the backing plate. If you remove the spindle hub nuts you will have to replace them and torque to the specs.
