Ford Repair: Flashers, blinkers, and brake lights out, 1997 ford thunderbird, ford thunderbird

Question
I have a 1997 Ford thunderbird and have lost the hazard flashers, blinkers, and the brake lights except for the brake light mounted on the trunk hood. I have pulled all of the fuses in the box under the dash and checked and have checked the fuses under the hood. I have bought a flasher but have not been able to locate the old one to replace. Am I headed in the right direction with the flasher, and if so where is the flasher to be replaced. And if I am not headed in the right direction were should I look?

Answer
The only part common to all of those lights is the multi-function switch on the steering column. You may also notice wiper problems as well. To replace that switch remove the upper trim from the steering column, the switch is on the left side below the steering wheel.

The flasher has no function for the brake lights.
