Ford Repair: 95 Thunderbird, torque converter, trans fluid

Question
I have a 95 Thunderbird w/55,000 miles was my late uncles car. The problem is when driving the car starts to jerk as if the transmission could be out of wack maybe, by the way auto trans w/v8 don't have any other history. I really can't tell if it is trans. or could it be ignition prob. no service or warning lights on. Car starts and runs great other than this problem could u help me.

Answer
First thing to check is the plug wires, and spark plugs. If they are old or original you should replace them, very common failure for the plug wires to arc thru at the spark plug boots. If you look at the plug wires and there are cylinder numbers on them, they are original and need to go. I recommend good wires, like Motorcraft or NAPA

Another common problem on this vehicle is dirty transmission fluid. There were problems with torque converter chatter. Since you recently got this vehicle, I sugggest checking all the fluids, etc. If the trans fluid is dark, smells burnt, or looks muddy, get that flushed, a new filter, and new fluid, see if that helps.

My bet is on the plug wires first tho.
