Ford Repair: Ford F150 heating, heater hoses, degree thermostat

Question
-------------------------
thanks for your fast responce
No there has been no engine work done ever lol
i have removed both hoses and no flow and as the ther housing and water pump have been changed so have the fittings I can easyly blow through the heater hoses and if the truck is hotter by stoping the rad fan and waiting for it  get hot i can get steam out of the hoses

there is no valve just 3/4" hose from water pump and therm housing straight to the heater core this is the 3 td therm i have put in and it has had 2 195's and a 180 still nothing

Could the Rad be pluged and the engine still not over heat or for that matter heat up much  I can grab and hold any hose but the rad seems to get a bit hotter and the top rad hose never gets hard alway soft

i know this is different but its driving me nuts

WOW, sounds like you have covered everything. No flow thru the heater core, is that right? Does this truck have a valve in one of the heater hoses? I don't remember them having one, but in Canada maybe that valve was used.

If you remove the heater hose from the engine side, do you get any flow? Could be the fitting in the engine is plugged up or rusty. Have you taken both hoses off at the heater to check flow?

Any engine work done, like intake manifold gaskets that are installed incorrectly?

What degree thermostat did you use? Should be 192 or 195. If your weather is still pretty cold and the thermostat is something like 160 it may never open enough for water flow.

Answer
You got me on this one. Are you putting the thermosat in at the right direction of flow? Usually that will cause overheating, as well as a plugged radiator. If the upper hose is not getting hot better make sure the thermo is installed correctly.

I don't know if it is possible on this engine, but I have heard of the wrong water pump causing a reverse flow on some. Seems to me you must have a blockage somewhere if nothing is coming out the heater hoses.
