Ford Repair: Side view mirror replacement, power window switch, mirror assembly

Question
Is there a site I might find the instructions to replace a driver's side view mirror on a 2000 Explorer XLT ?  I have the mirror.
Thanks

Answer
Are  you replacing the entire mirror assembly or just the glass? To replace the assembly, which on the Explorer is the only way to get it I think, you will need to remove the interior door trim panel, disconnect the mirror connector, and remove three nuts that hold the mirror to the door.

Here are the manual instructions for the trim panel. There should be two screws under the armrest area, then pull the panel away from the door, it has pin retainers. I like to just let the panel hang, no reason to remove everything.

Trim Panel —Front Door

Removal

NOTE: The window must be completely down to remove the front door trim panel.

Remove the screws.

Remove the inside door handle cup .

On low series front door trim panel, remove the screw and the window regulator handle.
Start in a lower corner and work around the panel and separate the front door trim panel (23942) from the front door ) to disengage the pin-type retainers.

Lift the front door trim panel to disengage the top lip from the weatherstrip.

Position the front door trim panel aside.
Separate the power window switch finish panel from the door trim panel.
Release the locking tabs.

If equipped, remove the courtesy lamp bulb from the lens and remove the front door trim panel.

Installation

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
