Ford Repair: Ignition coils 2001 F150, ford part numbers, ford dealers

Question
I've seen prices on these coils ranging from $15 (ebay) to $88 at the local Ford dealer.

Do you have any experience with various brands in these coils???

Thanks!

Answer
My experience for the last 20  years has been with Ford dealers. One piece of advise-you get what you pay for when it comes to electronic vehicle parts. If it were me I would go with a top brand like NAPA or Motorcraft. I have seen many NAPA parts of this type with Ford part numbers on the part. Beware of heavily discounted parts or off brands. We had may problems in the 1980-1995 era with off brand ignition madules, which were much cheaper, but didn't last long. Problem with the newer Ford coils there is really no way to test them except with expensive equipment, and many times that won't even prove the failure.
