Ford Repair: ford taurus, pan gasket, ford taurus

Question
Hi Steve,

My 93 ford taurus develepoed an oil leak, and I'm told that what needs to be fixed is the oil pan gasket. Also, the car cuts off and sometimes has trouble starting, so my mechanic is also changing the distributor. He's asked for 300 for parts, and another 225 for labor when all is done. Is this a fair price? thanks!

I don't know who your mechanic is, but I'd like to shake his hand.  Put another way, those prices I think are more than fair.  I know some places that will charge close to $225 in labor for the oil pan gasket alone (it's not that it's difficult, but it can be time consuming).  So yeah...I'd definitely say you're getting a fair deal.  Hope this helps.

Steve
