Ford Repair: !988 EFI Bronco to carb, bronco tank, fuel pressure regulator

Question
Steve,

I noticed that you told "Blake" he needed a new fuel pump for the conversion of an EFI Bronco to carb. I am planning to do the same thing, but using my trusty "Fish carb." Question, Why can't I just use the low pressure fuel pump in the exist Bronco tank to supply the carb and bi-pass the hi pressure pump. Then, using a "T" at the carb fuel line, send the excess fuel back to the tank via the return line that was used for the old injector system. Wouldn't this result in a suitable low pressure carb circulating system, which will never over-pressure the carb, or am I missing something?

Answer
John-

It could work if you had something like a fuel pressure regulator for a carb'ed application.  In that case, with a return line running, the only thing I'd still question is the volume.  Even if you knock the pressure down, which is certainly do-able, you might still have too much volume headed towards the carb which would overload the floats and needles.  Some trial and error would probably work here, but on paper it looks like it might work.  Hope this helps.
