Ford Repair: 331 stroker pistons, forbes aird, stock pistons

Question
I've been looking for quite a while and just cant seem to find an answer to a simple question. Can you use stock replacement pistons in a 331 stroker or would one need to use special 331/347 type pistons. I have found a few pistons designed just for a 331, but they are rather expensive and i am wondering if i can get away with using "standard" pistons. Thanks-

I suppose it might be possible to use the stock pistons if you happen to be a wiz at engine math and could figure out the compression height that would be needed with the longer stroke and associated rods.  In that event you could just custom order the rods that would fit the situation.  If you really wanted to go that route, you might pick up a copy of "Automotive Math Handbook" by Forbes Aird.  At the moment I don't have a ton of time to flip through it, but it's got a lot of engine math and theory.  If it were me, I'd go with the aftermarket pistons.  They'll be stronger, better (especially if the stock pistons are hypereutectic...those have no place in any performance motor), and specifically designed for the application thus eliminating any room for error.  Hope this helps.
