Ford Repair: Got 2 or 3 questions, cfm carb, mustang gt

Question
I bought a 1983 mustang gt HO. Who I bought it from had a 289 intake with a 700 cfm carb. They told me that they tried a 700 cfm and a 600 cfm carb but it didnt work. Im going to use the 289 intake. The left bank head is cracked and I dont have the money for a new one. I have two regular 5.0 heads. My question is what mods do I need to do to make the 5.0 heads work and what carburetor should I use on the 289 intake? Also, The cfi harness is gone.

Answer
Shane-

The 5.0 heads should be a direct fit to the 289 intake.  No special mods necessary.  As for the carb, I'm guessing the engine is only lightly modified in which case 700cfm is way too big.  Something like a 600cfm or 625cfm carb would probably make more power and save gas.  Deoending on your transmission, carb fitment can be tricky, but it's always do-able.  Hope this helps.
