Ford Repair: Mass air flow regulator, air flow regulator, mass air meter

Question
On 1993 Tempo ...to change a Mass air flow regulator ...can I just pop that in or does it need kind of adjustment  or calibration

Answer
Rick-

There's no real calibration needed, but it's a good idea to reset the computer which is easy enough to do.  With both battery cables disconnected (they should be already when changing the mass air meter), just stick the key in the ignition and turn it to the "accessory on" position (the last position before the engine turns over).  Leave it like that for 20 or 30 minutes, remove the key and hook the battery back up.  This will let the computer adjust itself to the new meter.  You'll have to reset your radio and whatnot, but it's a lot cheaper than having a shop do it for you.  Hope this helps.
