Ford Repair: 2005 ford ranger edge- 6 cylinder auto, ford ranger edge, valve seals

Question
Bought truck new in april 2005. Noticed at about 1500 miles a puff of blue smoke coming from tailpipe upon startup after vehicle sits overnight. Does it every morning, and also in afternoon after sitting during 8 hour work shift.Oil consumption negligible, no smoke while driving. Now have 2900 miles, no change. Ford dealer advised engine parts need to "set in" on new engine, should stop smoking after 5000-6000 miles. Are they blowing smoke up my rear end? Could it be that valve seals, or a seal, is the problem, and they sometimes do this? Will it corect itself?
Thank you much

Answer
Greg-

Sounds like a ring issue to me, although it's entirely possible that it's a valve seal issue.  It very well could correct itself once everything is broken in and properly seated.  The guys at Ford are telling you what they're supposed to, but I'd keep an eye on it.  If you get up around 6000 miles and the problem is still there, it'll be time to head back up to your Ford dealer.  As for right now, I wouldn't be too worried.  Hope this helps.
